International Association of Assistance Dog Partners

When I received Cleo, Canine Partners for Life told me about an organization entitled International Association of Assistance Dog Partners (IAADP). IAADP is a "non-profit, cross-disability organization representing people partnered with guide, hearing and service dogs."

IAADP has a lot of important educational opportunities and recourses on their website. For an Assistance Dog user, it is important that all of the recourses that IAADP can provide are understood. For all Assistance Dog users, the International Association of Assistance Dog Partners offers a Partner Membership. A Partner Membership is eligible to those working with an adult guide, hearing, or service dog. A Partner Membership can provide you with the following recourses for your Assistance Dog:

  •         Free Cosequin, Dasuquin, Welactin and/or Denosyl from Nutramax Laboratories.

 •         Free K9 Advantix II from Bayer HealthCare LLC.

 •         Pet Assure – 25% discount off medical services at participating veterinarians and other benefits for your  assistance dog plus all other pets in the home, for only $59 per year!

 •         10% fee discount at Veterinary Centers of America (VCA) hospitals.

 •         10% discount on Rabies Titer Test

 •         20% Discount on The Raspberry Field products

 •         Free Avid Microchip

 •         Free Enrollment in PETtrac

 •         Free enrollment in AKC Companion Animal Recovery Program

 •         Big discount on the purchase of Muttluks dog boots (shipping not included)

 •         A grant of financial aid may be available in the USA when a member’s veterinarian applies on behalf of a client for an assistance dog requiring veterinary care for a major veterinary problem beyond the partner’s ability to pay

Their mission is to 1) provide a voice to assistance dog partners within the assistance dog field, to 2) allow those partnered with Assistance Dogs to work together on issues of mutual concerns, and to 3) develop the partnership between people who have disabilities and Assistance Dogs. I encourage everyone to see what the International Association of Assistance Dog Partners has to offer. Even if you are not a person who has a disability, I encourage you to dive into the educational recourses on the IAADP website!
